YP Simplified Series Presents: Big Drilling Rig Choices – Old, New and Virtual by Craig Fraser, Chief Executive Officer, RigQuip

Registration and networking from 6.00 pm, with the event starting at 6.45 pm

Selecting a drilling rig is one of the most important choices a well engineering team will make. Many factors come into play, including price, availability, size, technical capability, rig company culture, safety, status, age of the rig etc. During this presentation Craig will provide a technical overview of current fixed and mobile rig choices with a focus on high performance, larger rigs. A comparison of old and new rigs will be made, and some of the economics behind rig building will be discussed, including how rigs are funded, and how optimum performance and safety can be obtained once contracted. Craig will end the presentation by taking a virtual walk around one of the world’s most advanced drillship designs where attendees can try out the latest VR technology, and become fully immersed in a 360° world where they feel they are really on-board this advanced drillship.
