What Does Equality And Diversity in Engineering Mean?
Talat Yaqoob, Equate Scotland
Registration and networking from 5.45 pm, with the event starting at 6.45 pm
There is so much discussion around equality and diversity in the engineering sector – but what does it actually mean? How do we move from rhetoric into real action? In this talk we will cover why equality and diversity matters, how we can engage more women into engineering, why we must think through an intersectional lens, and how we can all play a part. With a social, political and economic push in this area, it is time to get on board and change the face of engineering.
Talat has been the Director of Equate Scotland since 2016, she has many years of experience in equality and diversity work predominantly in women’s equality, race equality and mental health campaigning. She has a background in public affairs, social research and training and development. Talat is also a member of the First Minister’s advisory council on Women and Girls.
