2025 Student Bursaries are now open for applications
Our 2025 Student Bursary applications are now LIVE
DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 14th DECEMBER 2024!
SPE Aberdeen supports students through an annual bursary programme. Over the last 10 years we have distributed £250K to students across Scotland. We invite applications in December each year, and award bursaries of between £500 and £3000 each February. The timing is intended to help students who might be struggling financially to complete their course of study.
These bursaries are open to Full-Time Postgraduate students, PhD students and Under-Graduate students studying Energy related courses while attending the listed 4 Universities under SPE Aberdeen Section.

Please note that only current students are eligible for an award – and this does not include those students who have extended their studies. Eligibility criteria –The applicant should demonstrate in their response:
- A Course of study that is directly relevant to the energy industry
- A Clear intention/commitment to work in the energy industry
- Academic merit
- A member of SPE
- Active involvement in the SPE
If you are eligible and wish to apply for a bursary, please download the form in word format, fill it in on your computer and email the completed form along with the additional questions to Diane Wood aberdeen.manager@spe-uk.org Please remember to save the file with your name in the title.
The form asks for some relevant information from you, to help the selection committee to make its judgement. The committee may also contact your University for further information. Please provide, succinctly, any information which you feel may be useful. Do not attach any other files to the email. Applications will be reviewed and recommended by the SPE Aberdeen Section Student Development Committee. The Board has final approval. Applications will not be considered unless they are complete and submitted on time and as instructed.

A shortlist of candidates will be invited to present their answers to the judging panel in Aberdeen. In order to accommodate students and interviewers not based in Aberdeen, these presentations may also be requested to be done remotely. The date and time of this presentation will be confirmed later, and in what capacity. Successful candidates for the bursary awards will be announced in February 2025. All awardees will be invited to attend the Award ceremony.
