As the global geothermal industry accelerates and groundbreaking projects advance worldwide, this represents an unprecedented period of opportunity for geothermal energy. Nations are pushing boundaries to decarbonise and localise their power and heating supply, with the UK's increasing activity showcasing diverse geothermal applications and untapped potential. SPE Aberdeen proudly announces its 2026 Geothermal Seminar: Accelerating Geothermal Energy - challenging conventional approaches and exploring what's next to maximise geothermal's transformational impact.

Now in its fifth year, the seminar continues to serve as a valued event for sharing research, operational insights, and next-generation innovations that are taking geothermal energy to its maximum potential. We invite geothermal experts, researchers, policymakers, financiers, innovators, and enthusiasts to submit abstracts that capture the accelerating evolution of ideas, technologies, and practices for geothermal energy deployment.

Join us in March 2026 to engage with thought leaders and trailblazers driving this exciting energy transformation as we push boundaries, optimise performance, and accelerate toward a sustainable energy future.

Call for abstracts now open

We are now accepting abstract submissions for the upcoming seminar. The technical committee welcomes proposals for either a 20-minute full presentation or a concise 5-minute “Techbyte” talk. Abstracts should be approximately 200 words in length. Please note that formal SPE papers are not required for participation.
