Public Speaking Workshop: Communicating with Clarity, Confidence and Impact

The SPE Aberdeen People & Culture Committee, with support from the SPE University of Aberdeen Student Chapter, is pleased to host a FREE-TO-ATTEND practical workshop on public speaking and professional communication.

Public speaking is not only for conferences and formal presentations. It is a transferable skill used every day when communicating with colleagues, leading teams, sharing technical knowledge, contributing in meetings, speaking with clients, mentoring others, or engaging with friends and family. The ability to speak clearly, structure ideas, and connect with an audience is valuable at every stage of a career.

This workshop will bring together early-career, mid-career and experienced professionals to share knowledge, practical tools and tested protocols for becoming more effective communicators. The session will focus on building clear speaking habits, improving delivery, managing nerves, structuring messages, and developing the confidence to speak with greater purpose and impact.

The workshop will be led by Ruth Thomas, Subsurface Manager at Well-Safe Solutions, and Maria Badia, Director at ThinJack. The value of the evening will also come from the attendees themselves, through shared experience, thoughtful questions and peer learning across career stages.

The event will take place at the University of Aberdeen, Sir Duncan Rice Library, top floor, offering an excellent setting for discussion, learning and networking. Refreshments will be provided throughout. Everyone welcome!
