SPE Aberdeen's Robert Gordon University Student Chapter has emerged 1st place winner at the SPE Europe PetroBowl 2026.
The winning team were formally congratulated last night at the Douglas Hotel accompanied by RGU Student Chapter President Adam Andrews, faculty sponsor Dr Ibiye Ayalla, and supporting lecturer Dr Ruissein Mahon.
Teammates Jhon Jairo Maestre, Prince Effah Ameyaw, Roi Nze, and Carlos David Monroy Ordoñez travelled to compete alongside 15 other universities from across Europe in the challenge held in Clausthal, Germany from 8–10 April 2026. Team member Prince Effah Ameyaw says 'this was far more than a quiz. It was a high‑energy test of technical mastery, teamwork, and pure resilience, and we rose to the moment with everything we had. One of the most memorable moments of the entire experience was the privilege of meeting Jennifer Miskimins, President of SPE. Our conversation was inspiring, insightful, and a powerful reminder of the global community we are part of.'
Congratulations to the team and to the RGC Student Chapter!
