In December 2018, Petrofac launched its Innovation Zone. A uniquely designed, immersive workspace where clients, suppliers, and technology specialists collaborate on the digital technologies to revolutionise the way the oil and gas industry works.
The Zone, which was officially opened by the Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands, Paul Wheelhouse invites visitors to experience first-hand the technology developed and adapted by Petrofac in collaboration with its clients and other parties, to enhance safety, maximise uptime and productivity, and improve operational efficiencies.
Since its opening, more than 120 workshops with clients, government and industry bodies, and international delegations have taken place.
Steve Johnson, Vice President of Digital for Petrofac’s Engineering and Production Services business, said:
“In the short space of time since it opened, our Innovation Zone has proved pivotal to our digital strategy, acting as a window for both our employees and clients to witness first-hand how we’re bringing new digital technology into the heart of our service delivery through real, practical applications.
“As we continue to adopt technologies and further enhance our digital capabilities, this has added to the overall user experience within the Zone. We are now able to both demonstrate what is possible through the use of digital technology, as well as showcase the results that have been achieved for our clients through its adoption.”
