CO₂ Storage Conference 2026
Delivering the Future of Carbon Storage
6 – 7 October 2026 | The Chester Hotel, Aberdeen
Call for abstracts now open! Deadline 8 May 2026.
The past few years have marked a defining period with carbon capture and storage (CCS) moving from idea to action. Projects are now being built and delivered across the UK, Europe and worldwide, showing that capturing carbon dioxide and storing it safely deep underground is possible at scale. Governments, industry and researchers are working together, investing in new projects, creating clearer rules, and sharing what they learn. CCS is no longer just an ambition, it is becoming a practical part of how we cut emissions and move towards net zero.
This new wave of activity builds on many years of research, testing and early pilot projects. Major infrastructure schemes now under development, spanning transport networks, offshore storage hubs, and cluster deployment, demonstrate both technical maturity and commercial confidence. Today, attention is shifting from “can we do CCS?” to “how do we do it well and accelerate deployment?”. That includes improving how we select and design storage sites, how we monitor injected CO₂, and how we plan for long-term safety and stewardship. New tools in areas such as seismic imaging, digital reservoir modelling and emissions monitoring are helping teams understand storage performance in more detail and share lessons across projects.
This conference is about building on that momentum illustrating how CCS is evolving from ambition to implementation, reinforcing its critical role in achieving deep emissions reductions and enabling a just, secure energy transition. By bringing together industry leaders, researchers, and policy makers, the conference provides a platform to share progress, discuss lessons from ongoing projects, and explore pathways for accelerating delivery in key delivery areas ranging from understanding storage formations and well design to monitoring, regulation and cross-border CO₂ transport. Together, they show how CCS is moving from small pilots to large, integrated systems, and the critical role transportation networks and CO₂ storage play in the journey to net zero.
Help us shape this year’s programme!
We invite you to submit a 200-word abstract to be considered for a formal 20-minute presentation, a 5-minute Techbyte presentation, or a poster. Abstract submission is completely free, and speakers benefit from free attendance to the conference on the day of their presentation.
We are particularly keen to receive abstracts covering:
Caprock Integrity · P&A · Exploration & Appraisal · First Injection · Development to Delivery · CO₂ Specifications · Mineralisation · Real-Time Monitoring · Integrated Systems · Cross-Border Transport · Supply Chain Readiness · Investment · Licencing Strategies · Cyclical Injection
For a full list of the themes and topics, download the Call for Abstracts flyer above.
Other Available Opportunities
Student Posters
We invite university students to submit their research, case studies, or projects related to CO₂ storage for consideration in our dedicated poster session. Selected participants will have the opportunity to present their posters during the networking breaks engaging with attendees and sharing their groundbreaking ideas. For further details, download the Call for Abstracts flyer above.
Exhibition Opportunities
Exhibiting at the CO2 Storage Conference is a cost-effective promotional opportunity. There will be ample opportunity for maximum interaction between exhibitors and delegates during the registration period, coffee breaks, and during lunch. To enquire about exhibition packages, please contact aberdeen.events@spe-uk.org.
Sponsorship Opportunities
The organisers of this event, SPE Aberdeen and GESGB, are not-for-profit organisations with the shared aims of:
Raising sponsorship is crucial to help us ensure that the CO2 Storage Conference continues to be an affordable and valuable training opportunity for the industry, to enable us to re-invest back into industry, and to support our future workforce.
Information on available packages can be found on the Call for Abstracts flyer or contact aberdeen.events@spe-uk.org.

Full payment of the event rate you have selected must be paid in advance of the event day or you will be asked for payment on registration. If payment is not received then you will not be granted entry to the conference. We recognise that on occasions delegates will book onto events and subsequently find that they are unable to attend. In these situations we ask that delegates notify us of their need to cancel an event booking as soon as possible.
Our cancellation policy is as follows: Please send cancellation details to the event organiser by email or by telephone. Please inform the event organiser if you wish to send a replacement delegate, including their requirements (e.g. dietary, access etc). Please supply their full contact details so that any advance paperwork can be supplied directly to the replacement. If you notify the organisers of your cancellation up to two weeks prior to the event, we will provide a full refund. If you notify the organisers of your cancellation less than two weeks prior to the event the full cost will be payable and only delegate substitution will be allowed. Where you have booked a place and do not attend without notifying the organisers of your cancellation the full fee will be payable.
